"Everything we do with our dogs is training"

Please take a moment to read through the information provided below to help you have the best experience while training with us.

The link to your required pre-class homework can be found at the bottom of this page.
Thank you for registering for a class and/or course at with us at Audax K9 Academy.
We are excited to work with each of you and your dogs. We are looking forward to helping you overcome your frustrations and turn problem behaviors into motivated good dogs.

You are welcome to bring your normal equipment you use when walking and working your dog. We will discuss and show & tell training equipment and our recommendations during class.

TRAINING TOOLS: We do not believe that training is "one size fits all". Every dog, where they are at in the training process and what they need is unique and different. When we are in class, we will coach you on the equipment you have and what might be a better solution for the dog in front of us.
PARKING
When you arrive, there are two parking areas. When you turn onto our property, you will immediate see our upper, overflow parking lot on the North side of the drive way. While cars may be parked here, that does not mean that our lower, main parking lot is full. You may continue down the driveway to our main parking area.

ARRIVAL
When you arrive for class, please park, gather your dog and belongings and head toward the training field.
POTTY RULES & AREA
The potty area is well marked. Please take your dog directly to the potty prior to joining class on the training field. Even if your dog just pottied at home. No exceptions. You are required to clean up after your dogs.

Feces Removal Instructions:
ONLY bagged poop and garbage may be put in the lined garbage cans.
We have a tried and true composting method. Every potty area has a pooper scooper. We prefer feces are left in the pooper scooper so that we may appropriately compost it.

Expectations
It is our goal that all our clients and your dogs find training to be one of the best times. In this vein, we require all dogs to be on leash, under control and managed by an adult at all times.
If this is something you will be unable to accomplish in a group class setting, email us promptly to schedule a private lesson.

We believe it is important that every household member assisting in the care and training of your dog is able to attend class. We do not require everyone to attend but find value in your ability to do so.
We ask that all household members, who are not actively training, congregate off of the main training field. We ask that only 1 handler is on the field working a dog at a time. There are chairs set up on the side of the training field for those observing class.
Essential Arrival Tips
You will hear me say often that "everything you do with your dog is training". As you are learning each week, remember that training starts at your vehicle. One of the most important but often neglected training opportunity is when you transport your dog from your vehicle to the training space and vice versa.
Key Training Tips
We have a few quick tips and suggestions to help you get the most out of class.
-
Consistency in training is key. It is best for there to be 1 primary person attending all classes. It is acceptable to rotate household member at the classes. Other family members may take an opportunity to work your dog during class.
-
Bring your dog hungry. A hungry dog is a motivated dog.
-
Bring more treats than you think you'll need. Soft treats that don't crumble and aren't too big are ideal. We don't want our dogs sniffing the ground for crumbs or stopping to chew while training.
-
If you bring more than one type of treat, keep them separate. Please do not bring a mixed bag of treats, kibble, cheese, steak, etc.
-
Don't wear your dog out prior to class.
Class starts promptly at the scheduled time. Please arrive a few minutes early to potty your dogs and get settled.
Sick Policy
If you or your pet is sick, stay home!
We will happily transfer a missed class due to human or dog sickness to a Drop In Style obedience class.~
Cancelation & Weather Policy
All classes are held outdoors, rain or shine.
Please dress appropriately for the weather, including shoes with good traction that can handle grass and the wet Washington outdoors.

~ Classes will be canceled for thunder and lightning or unsafe road conditions (snow) only. ~

When classes are canceled due to weather, we will communicate with you and either add a class date to the end of the series OR we will offer a make up class to use at one of our drop in style classes.
