Dog Obedience Training for Bellevue Dogs
Obedience training should make everyday life with your dog easier. That includes being able to take a walk without constant pulling, call your dog away from something interesting and have them remain settled when guests visit.
A dog may understand what “sit” means and still struggle to listen when excited or distracted. Knowing a command and responding reliably to it are two different things.
Our dog obedience training programs work on basic skills as well as the ability to use those skills around distractions.
Depending on your dog's needs, training may cover loose-leash walking, recall, staying in position, responding to commands, attention to the handler and learning better impulse control.

Puppy Training Classes for Bellevue Dog Owners

It's normal puppy behavior, but it's also a good time to begin teaching manners.

Different dogs need different training environments. A group class may be a good fit for a dog that needs to practice obedience around distractions while another dog may need individual instruction before working comfortably around others.
01 Group Obedience Classes
Group obedience classes offer structured opportunities to practice skills with other dogs and handlers nearby. Owners can work on maintaining their dog's attention while learning how to give clear consistent commands
02 Private Dog Training Lessons
Private dog training lessons allow a trainer to spend more time with you and your dog. These lessons can focus on specific behaviors, training difficulties or goals that aren't easily addressed in a group setting.
03 Board and Train Programs
Audax K9 Academy also offers board and train programs for owners interested in a more intensive option. Available programs include puppy board and train, basic obedience training, custom training and behavior modification plans.
We don't expect owners to know which format they need before contacting us. Your dog's age, temperament, experience and the behaviors you're concerned about all help to determine where to begin.
OUR APPROACH
A Practical Approach to Dog Training
Our goal is to help you understand how to practice and maintain the skills your dog is learning.
Dogs don't all respond to the same things. One dog may work enthusiastically for a food reward, while another becomes distracted easily and needs shorter, more focused training sessions.
At Audax K9 Academy, our training incorporates positive reinforcement, food luring, free shaping and fair corrections when appropriate. We consider the individual dog's motivation and learning history when working on new behaviors.
We also explain the training process to owners.
Practicing and maintaining skills
For example, if your dog pulls on the leash, it's important to understand what you're teaching them to do instead, not simply what you want them to stop doing. The same applies to jumping, ignoring commands or becoming overly excited around visitors.
Progress doesn't always happen at the same speed for every dog. Some behaviors improve quickly, while others require consistent work over time.
